"We are not completely out of the storm yet, but today looks much brighter than yesterday. I can finally see the rainbow on the horizon."
Those words came in a handwritten letter from Crystal, a mother of three who found herself at Neighborhood House during “one of the most difficult times of [her] life."
A few years ago, Crystal had "no one to turn to" and was struggling to access the services she needed. She came to our Middletown office and found help. In her letter she wrote, "Your compassion, quick action, and the generosity of those in the community made a lasting impact on me and my children."
But here's what moves me the most: Crystal’s story didn't end with receiving assistance. Along with the letter, she sent us a donation, paying it forward to help others in need. She called the path she’s on now "the beginning of a success story" that we're "an important part of."
Her journey from crisis to stability to giving back demonstrates one of our most deeply held beliefs — no one rises alone. When we meet people where they’re at, it creates space for them to find their footing again.
Thank you for being part of stories like Crystal's. Your support makes it possible for us to extend that same helping hand to the next family that walks through our doors.
