We get it — you're busy. Between work, family, and other commitments, you might feel like sitting through a 2-hour seminar isn't the best use of your time. Life doesn't slow down just because you're thinking about buying a house. But ask our Housing Administrator Renee White and she'll tell you: those who attend leave with a much better understanding of what’s possible.
"Knowledge is powerful," Renee says. "Most participants seemed surprised that the information they received was even out there.”
Last year, 70 people participated in our housing education workshops. Sixteen of them went on to purchase homes — including one longtime renter who'd spent years dreaming about homeownership but struggled to make it happen.
Questions That Are Top of Mind
When our team sits down with clients, certain questions come up again and again: How do I improve my credit score? How do I save enough for a down payment? And in this market — how do I find a home that's actually affordable?
But the question that comes up most is how to combine down payment assistance programs. Clients want to know how to layer different resources together to make homeownership work for their budget. That's not the kind of thing you’ll figure out from a Google search, but you will if you attend a seminar and work with one of our HUD-certified housing counselors.
What to Expect When You Show Up
When you attend one of our seminars, you’ll get a clear, honest look at what it takes to become a homeowner — from getting qualified to finding programs that can help. And there's time built in for Q&A, so you can ask whatever's on your mind.
Plus, you’ll hear from people who know this stuff inside and out, and who care about the unique home-buying journey you’re on. Several past participants told us that Neighborhood House was more responsive than other agencies they'd worked with. That matters when you're trying to make one of the biggest purchasing decisions of your life.
Find Out What’s Possible
The biggest thing standing between most people and homeownership isn't money or credit or the market. It's not having access to the right information at the right time, and that’s exactly what these seminars provide.
You don't need perfect credit. You don't need to have your finances all sorted out. You just need to be ready to take the next step. And we’ll help you do it.
Reserve your spot at an upcoming seminar. And if you've got questions that can't wait, call (302) 658-5404 and ask for Renee — she'd be happy to help you answer them.
