Most people know Alison Windle as Neighborhood House's Executive Director. What they might not know? She's also an avid fisherwoman who has competed in tournaments with the Upper Eastern Shore Anglers.
"Anything to do with the Chesapeake Bay suits me," Alison says — whether that's fishing, gardening, or creating flower arrangements inspired by the natural beauty around her.
But as much as she loves the Bay, it's the work happening at Neighborhood House that really lights her up.
Alison has been leading our organization for almost 11 years, and her passion for our mission hasn't dimmed one bit. "I love early learning programs for little ones, youth development for school-aged children, family services for neighbors in need, and housing counseling!" she says. "I have the privilege to watch all these services come together under one house and beautifully serve the community."
For Alison, leadership is about so much more than spreadsheets and org charts — it's about empowering people. What brings her the most joy? "Providing needed services to our neighbors, but also seeing our staff members succeed in their life goals and progress in their walk with God."
That spiritual foundation isn't incidental to Alison's leadership — it's central to it. Her faith shapes how she serves, how she leads, and how she sees every person who walks through our doors. It's what grounds her decision-making and fuels her commitment to loving our neighbors well.
Whether she's casting a line in the Chesapeake Bay or casting vision for Neighborhood House's future, Alison brings the same qualities: patience, persistence, and a deep belief in what's possible.
Alison, thank you for your steady leadership, your heart for our community, and your commitment to helping everyone — staff and neighbors alike — flourish. We're blessed to have you at the helm!
At Neighborhood House, our greatest strength has always been our people. This series highlights the staff members who bring heart, dedication, and purpose to their work every day. Their stories remind us that behind every meal served, every family helped, and every life changed, there's someone who genuinely cares.
