Help Us Fight Food Insecurity in Wilmington and Middletown

Updated: May 2

In Wilmington and Middletown, the reality of food insecurity is hitting harder than ever.

Empty shelves in our food pantries are a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges many of our neighbors face. The need for basic necessities persists for families and individuals struggling to make ends meet.

That’s why we’re calling on you to help make a difference. By coming together as a community, we can ensure that no one has to go without the essentials of daily life.

What We Need

We're seeking donations of frozen meats and shelf-stable food items that can help sustain the families who rely on our services. From canned goods to pasta, every bit helps. But the scope of the need extends beyond just food. We also need hygiene items like soap, shampoo, and conditioner, which are often in short supply for those experiencing hardship.

How You Can Help

Donate Items: If you have any questions about dropping off food or making other in-kind donations, please call the Neighborhood House office closest to you: 302.658.5404 in Wilmington or 302.378.7217 in Middletown.

Spread the Word: Share this blog post and talk about our food drive on your social media. The more people know about the need, the more we can collect to help our neighbors. For so many, the pantries are a lifeline.

Organize a Food Drive: By getting your workplace, school, or neighborhood to participate in a food drive, you can increase the likelihood that there will be enough supplies to meet the demand.

Every Contribution Counts

Each and every donation is deeply appreciated and goes directly to helping our neighbors. We are happy to accept unexpired food items, hygiene items, brown paper bags, and heavy plastic bags.

Join us in making a meaningful impact. Let’s fill those shelves and ensure that everyone in our community has access to life's essentials.
