Mrs. Jackson, mother of seven, grandmother of six, learns to use
a computer after taking a class at the Family Technology Center.
Before attending our program she was not familiar with
computers, she was afraid that she could not learn how to use
them. "I was an analog person living in a digital world."
This program has brought me into the digital world. Prior to
taking this class, I was completely computer illiterate. I know
now how to manage documents in various programs. I am a stickler
when it comes to properly shutting down computers. I have
learned how to send and receive email messages. My children and
grandchildren live throughout the country. I can now keep in
touch with them via email. I can download email and save files
on my computer. I taught my daughter how to defrag her computer.
I have also showed off my computer skills at the senior center,
I created my birthday card on my birthday.
As a student of life, this has been a mind-altering
challenge, which I have enjoyed. I look forward to sharing my
knowledge with whoever wants to learn." She has started sharing
her new acquired skills by volunteering at the Southbridge Youth
Academy. |
