Early Learning Center
–
In collaboration with Neighborhood House, Inc., the University of Delaware has
operated an extension of the very successful Early Learning Center in the
Southbridge neighborhood of Wilmington since October 2007. "We are
committed to providing high quality childcare with family supports in the
Southbridge neighborhood, and ongoing state of the art training and technical
assistance for Wilmington early care and education programs."

Extended Hours –
This is an evening program providing a safe have to youth ages 13 to 17 to
engage in constructive activities such as open recreation, computer time, line
dancing; Double Dutch and workshops on personal hygiene, STD, college
preparation, prevention and intervention issues. The program operates from 6
to 8 p.m. on Fridays and from 5 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays
during the fall, winter and spring seasons.
Homework Help –
This program targets youth grades K thru 6 from 3 to 5:30 p.m. and grades 7 thru
11 from 5 to 7 p.m., Monday through Thursday. The program includes
homework assistance, tutoring, access to computers for research and reports,
computer training and monthly parent meetings. Other activities include
Four-H Club, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, fields trips and workshops.
Street Lights
– Neighborhood House sponsors teams for area
youth in seasonal sports such as flag football, basketball and track.
Summer Camp
-- Provides recreational, educational and cultural enrichment
programming for area youth between the ages of six and twelve. Before and after
care is also provided for working parents.
Crisis Relief/Family Services
This program is designed to assist families
and individuals to meet their immediate basic needs of food, heat and
electricity in crisis situations while helping them become more stable.
Some of the services offered are emergency food closet, financial assistance
with utility bills, Thanksgiving food baskets, Christmas adopt-a-family, bus
tickets for employment and life skill workshops. These services are
offered both locations -- Middletown and Wilmington.
Housing
Services
The Housing Services Program has one
mission: to provide a full range of free services, advice, and technical
assistance to housing clients. Housing Services is a source of information to
countless New Castle County residents with housing concerns ranging from simply
keeping rent current to purchasing their own home.

Weatherization
The purpose is to install energy efficiency improvements in the homes of
low-income persons in order to maximize energy savings and improve the health
and safety of people in their homes.
Neighborhood House administers the Weatherization Assistance Program in New
Castle County for the State of Delaware.
